Attorney Renee M. Bevilacqua has long been known for her ferocity and trial skills in both the criminal and family courts of Rhode Island.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Roger Williams College in 1988, Ms. Bevilacqua traveled South to Nova University School of Law, a leading institution for Trial Advocacy, spending her last term prosecuting DUI and Domestic violence cases for the West Palm Beach State Attorneys Office.
Gaining admission as an Attorney in the State of Florida in 1991, the State of Rhode Island in 1992, and the U.S. District Court for Rhode Island in 1993, Attorney Bevilacqua found herself mentioned on the front page of Lawyers Weekly in January of 1995, having successfully sued utility giant Boston Edison in a complex CERCLA environmental liability action in the United States District Court. Based upon Attorney Bevilacqua’s argument, the Federal Court found Boston Edison had sufficient contacts to be held liable in Rhode Island when it dumped hazardous, PCB laden, street light capacitors onto her client’s property along the banks of the Blackstone River in Woonsocket, RI.
Attorney Bevilacqua’s practice encompasses family law, business, regulatory, and commercial matters as well as criminal law cases, both prosecution and defense. In 2005-2009, she was appointed as Asst. Solicitor and Prosecutor for the municipality of Glocester, Rhode Island. In 2006, Attorney Bevilacqua was appointed Asst. Solicitor and Prosecutor for Foster, RI, taking the reins as the sole Solicitor in 2012 through 2016.
Continuing her professional growth after 25 years, Renee was sworn in as a Justice of the Peace and Bail Commissioner in the State of Rhode Island in 2016 (serving the RI State Police Headquarters and other municipalities in the area.) Renee returned to the RI Department of Transportation as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Sr. Legal Counsel in 2017 through 2019.
